The facilities and services at the YMCA in Beit Sahour continue to grow.
Under construction and due to open early in 2001 is the Phase I of the Sports
Center which will house a half-Olympic size
swimming pool. This will allow the
YMCA to offer another service that is greatly needed in the community.
The Sports Center is a completely enclosed facility, which allows for year-round use of the pool. Swimming lessons for all segments and age groups will be offered, as well as open swimming for recreation and exercise. The Center will offer a variety of memberships and swimming schedules to meet the needs of anyone who wants to use the facility.
The pool will also expand the Rehabilitation Program by adding water therapy as a means of increasing physical strength and mobility for people with disabilities. This can greatly enhance to effectiveness of the overall rehabilitation process.
